"Single women are happier than single men." This is a summary of a recent scientific study that went into detail on this subject and explained it with a variety of reasons, which may seem somewhat unfamiliar to some.
A recent study found that single women are happier than single men, because entering into a relationship with another party means for women to bear the hard work in the relationship than men, according to the British newspaper The Independent, citing a study by data analysts at the company "Mintel" in Britain.
Sixty-one percent of women feel happy to be single, compared to 49 percent of single men, the study said, adding that 75 percent of single women did not actively seek a relationship over the past year, compared with 65 percent of single men.
The study pointed out that the entry of women in relationship with another party requires a great effort and often more work and perseverance than men.
"Women spend more time on household chores than men," said professor Emily Grundy of the University of Essex. "Women bear the burden of household tasks like cooking more than men, in addition to supporting the relationship with respect to the emotional aspect.
Women spend more time looking at their appearance, and more efforts are made to solve the problems or controversies between the two sides, Grundy said. "Women tend to have alternative social networks and close friends, while men tend to rely heavily on their wives, which makes their social ties less," she said.
In the same context, Emily Grundi stressed that there is a common finding in many studies that women who have no life partner tend more to engage in activities of a social nature, as well as to create a network of friends, compared to married women.
