A recent study revealed, That more than two-thirds of people who smoke one cigarette on an experimental basis, become permanent smokers, in figures that may help reduce the spread of the habit.
The study, published in the Journal of Nicotine and Tobacco Research, was based on data from eight surveys conducted since 2000 in the United States, Britain, Australia and New Zealand.

According to the study, which included 216 thousand respondents, 68.9 percent of those who tried one cigarette, they became smokers. The study indicated that the remaining 31.1 per cent of the patients had no cigarettes, and did not repeat smoking.
"This shows that preventing or reducing the chances and the causes of young people's cigarette experience is a good idea" to curb the spread of smoking, said Peter Hagick, co-author of the study, from Queen Mary University in London.
